Garfield's

My most recent and last visit was pretty disappointing. Although the restaurant wasn't busy, it took a long time for our food (just two appetizers) and we were ignored by staff for most of our meal. Our server spent most of her time chitchatting with co-workers and left us waiting way too long to get our bill. Even the manager was oblivious to us. Worst of all, twenty minutes after we left, we both came down with stomach cramps and nausea. It's a day later and I'm still really sick from food poisoning. I'll never, ever go back.
My wife and I went to Garfield's on 5/10/13 at 5:30 p.m. There were not many people in the resturant. We were promptly seated and served our soda and coffee. We ordered an appetizer along with our main meal. The cheese sticks came out promptly and were good. We waited, and waited, and waited for the main meal. 3 cups of coffee later, I asked if they were growing the chicken. The waitress stated it would be up soon. We waited and waited. An assistant manager came over to apologize about the delay and I told her to give me a bill for the coffee, soda, and cheese sticks since they were consumed. I never got that bill. We sat there a while longer, up and left. We will NEVER go back. When they found out the order was screwed up, they should have admitted it immediately and there would not have been a problem.
We always used to go to Garfield's, and it was pretty good. The last time we went, however, it was our last. The hostess flipped out about giving us a table in the section we wanted (is it that hard...isn't the customer always right?) But after a huge eye-roll from her, and appropriate reaction from us, she took us to a table we wanted. The food has gone downhill here, and they remodeled the place, so that it is now bland and not exciting. The delicious loaded baked potato soup is now watery and tastes nasty, and most of the other food selections are no longer good. We won't be returning for awhile!
For some reason, this will only post with all 5 stars......My rating is actually 2 stars. My husband and I went here for dinner today. We have dined here before a couple times but it's been a couple years since we've been here. My husband ordered the blue cheese burger and fries, salad and iced tea. I ordered the burger they had on sale and their new onion rings (which were an extra 99 cents because usually you get fries), salad and iced tea. Our iced tea came and then we didn't see her for about 15 minutes. At this time, my husband had finished his iced tea and when she finally came back, she got him more iced tea and said our burgers were taking a long time because they were new and they take longer to cook. We said that was fine and she walked away. My husband then asked me about why we didn't get our salad yet. I had to go hunt our waitress down and ask her about our salads. She said she had completely forgotten about them. She brought our salads and soon after that we received our meals. My husband's burger was charred on the outside. My burger was cooked on one side and almost red on the other. Also, my burger was to have ham on it but didn't. When I asked the waitress about it, she asked if I wanted "a piece of ham on a plate" so I could add it to my burger myself. The onion rings were not fully cooked and the first one I cut into, had part of the skin on it. I told her about this and she asked if I'd like something else. She brought me fries and they were fine. When she brought the check, we were still being charged the extra cost of the onion rings and our bill came to $22.74. Just about that time, she came over and told us she had forgotten to take the extra cost off and gave us a new bill. The new bill was exactly the same amount and we had to tell her about it and she said the "computer was stupid" and had to back out the bill and start over. She was very pleasant about everything but unfortunately, after all that went wrong, we will not be back.
Shocked would be a good word to describe my last visit to the Clearview Garfield's Restaurant. When the hostess sat 3 of us out of a party of 5 at a booth obviously designed for only 4 we were confused. The place had only one other table sat and no one else waiting. We asked the bartender/server if we could sit at a booth or table in the other side of the restaurant that would accommodate the 5 of us. His response was that he was the only person serving and that he would not walk all the way to the other side to serve us. This was not our first time in this restaurant but it will be our last. Which is a shame because we eat out a lot and the food has always been excellent. Its been a little over 5 years since I worked in the restaurant industry and I'm shocked at how much has changed in such a short time.
