Everytime we go to OKC we have to stop for this fantastic chicken. Don't try to order tea with your meal...lol only canned soft drinks, bottled water or beer. Chicken comes with fried okra that's cooked perfect, white bread slices, pickles and onions. Just good ol country cooked food!!! Fun place with a lot of history. Always worth the trip.

This place is a local landmark here in Oklahoma. Although they have a limited menu the food is delicious and the staff are kind.

A dining experience everyone who comes to Central Oklahoma should enjoy! The menu is very simple, and nearly everything is fried. Mouth watering chicken and okra served on wax paper along with white bread, sweet and sour pickles and Louisiana hot sauce make a perfect meal. The Frito chili pie also comes highly recommended.

Yes the chicken was good, AND THEY DONT HAVE ICE TEA OR COFFEE!. That will be explain farther down in this story- The outside (the skin has a very good flavor) that's really the only thing that's different, the inside of the chicken is well taste like chicken, if your raised in Okla. and know how to cook a chicken whole with bones it taste the same, but this is not the reason why I gave a 1 star, let me start (long story..sorry) on July 18 2014 yes a Friday, My boyfriend and I made a road trip to the famous Eischens Bar for the Famous chicken, knowing a head of time about the big wait, so we went early and was there around 2:30 in the afternoon, walked in noticing the signs of there maybe up to 1 to 11/2 hour waiting to be severed, well the place had about 10 people there, so we walked in not know what to do, should we just pick at table or wait? a lady see's us and walks up to me and says do you want to eat? I'm like yeah, do we just find and table or what? she says follow me and points to a table, and she ask what would we like drink, my boyfriend says ice tea with sugar, WOW the waitress rudely and hateful says (We don't have ice tea or coffee we have water, beer, and wine coolers!) well he takes water, I say a beer, another person comes over a says what do you want (that's actually what she said), I say chicken and that this is our first time here and I was told buy previous customers/friends to get 2 chickens, she said 1 chicken is enough and what side would we like?(again that's what she said) we picked the fried okra-which was amazing-plus yes 1 chicken was enough for both of us-if you never been there, there is not a menu just a sign on the wall, which thats ok with us. we knew a head of time that we want the fried okra, but we didn't have a chance to look at the wall menu (or notice it until the waitress left) cause of the rush to order something, anyway we wanted refills and ask and waited and then asked again, we both got the same answer "Oh yeah I forgot", plus I like ketchup with my okra and when I caught the waitress (running by) to ask about ketchup she just pointed with her head to the wall where it was. To let you know that we are laughing this whole time about the service, and our word of the day was 'OH YEAH I FORGOT" I will never ever go there again, but at least I have a story and can say been there done that.

It was ok, not great, not special (although the staff is aloof enough to make you think it is). Just fried chicken, pretty tasty, but not special. No "premium" beers, this is 'Murica after all. No sweet tea just seems lazy. Typically home cooked food is pretty cheap, so prices are based on the name. In conclusion, people like it a lot, but I'm not sure why.
