Ate here on October 18th after the Poteau Balloon Fest while driving to our cabin for the night. As a train buff, being able to eat in an old train car was a huge deal. The employees were unbelievably nice and made sure we were 100% satisfied. Food had good portions for the price and was some of the best fried chicken I've had in Oklahoma. And the deserts. Oh God the deserts. If I didn't live 250 miles away, i'd come here every week. A must stop if driving through eastern Oklahoma.
Above average food for the area, the ambience of eating in something that resembles a railcar is an added bonus. The grilled catfish with rice pilaf was good stuff. My dining companion ordered fried shrimp, I had a bite and it was tasty.
Great place good country style food
Rode out from OKC with some biker friends and ate a couple of meals at the Southern Belle over the weekend of 19-20 October. The food was absolutely terrific. Generous portions, well prepared, and tasty to the last bite. Not a single person in our group left anything on the plates. The deserts were to die for! The staff was very friendly and on the job. We never had to ask for anything. This converted train car is a real treat to visit and more than worth the drive from anywhere to dine. Make sure to ask the staff to see the photo albums of the history of the railroad car. Interesting story for sure. Thanks to the entire staff for a very enjoyable experience.
