I frequent this coffee shop almost everyday because I love the atmosphere, the coffee options, and the service. All around great business! HIGHLY recommend. Prices are about a dollar less than Starbucks per drink but equally, if not better, quality!

The coffee and service are excellent

My first time at Perks I looked at their menu and saw no Carmel Macchiato so I asked if they could custom make a drink. The girl behind the counter said I guess...I know great answer but I don't blame her, she wasn't trained well...I explained; steam the milk with s little froth, squirt in 3 pumps of vanilla syrup, stir, now extra tract 2 shots of espresso and pour on top, do not stir, them drizzle caramel sauce on top.  Believe me, this is not confusing, even a poorly trained barista would understand all this and could do this in less than 60 seconds.  At the moment she was going to start a gruff, older woman came in the back door and the girl said hold on a sec, I'll get my manager to do this.  The manager...who turned out to be the owner said, "What's this?" as if I were harassing her employee.  I reexplained the drink and SHE WENT OFF ON ME telling me it's people like me who kill small business...WHAT? She said, "You're one of those Starbucks people and this is one of those Starbucks drinks...she went on and on...."   She finally gave me my drink, no caramel sauce, she stirred the drink, and in addition to the 3 pumps of vanilla syrup she added 3 pumps of caramel syrup.  This was crazy sweet and basically undrinkable.   I visited Van Wert a few months later and the owner was not there that day and the service was fine, the drinks a average.  The owner was there when I visited last month...I thought maybe she was just having a bad day during my first visit....nope, she has the same old gruff, "I'm right not the customer attitude."  Van Wert...please get a new coffee shop.  Someone, open a coffee shop and be nice and you will run this hole in the wall out of business. 

The owner is friendly and very smart. Even though im a little bummed she did it before me. Now she has a coffee drive thru too. Also an idea of mine. Not that she took it from me...she's just faster. Thanks for the perks crew for a little treat every now and then.

Having been espresso aficionados long before there were coffee shops anywhere in the area, my husband & I think Perks has the best coffee around! Laura ( the owner), works at staying on top of her business, going to classes & working with her suppliers to produce an excellent espresso!!!!! Terri
