After looking at antiques for several hours my daughter-in-law and I wanted a bite to eat. Several friends had suggested the Mustard Seed Rest. if we were in the area. The place was charming, the owner/chef was so pleasant. She offered to make my daughter-in-law items she could eat since she was on a very restricted diet. Food was great, sweet potato fries and fish were so good. The atmosphere, quaint, cozy and music playing was old school. Loved our experience and will definitely go there again, probably soon. It is close to 40 miles from home, but I would make the drive again. You need to visit if you are in the area, or make plans to be in the area so you can visit.

I am ashamed for when I come home form college I am more worried about the hours of the Mustard Seed! Chicken finger salad is the BEST! My fiance and I will be life customers! Thanks! Owner is very nice and personable too!

The Mustard Seed Restaurant was truly a gem - a small, bustling family restaurant - established in what appears to be the first floor of the family's victorian-style home - that specializes in sandwiches made with fresh-baked organic and whole grain breads and fillings, certified organic beef (and gourmet pizzas after 4 pm). Warm and friendly staff, circulating chef/owner greeting guests adds to the experience. My selection - veggie melt sandwich on sunflower bread, and sweet potato fries - was outstanding. Light-textured bread generously sliced, filled with sauteed vegetables, lightly seasoned. The fries were thinly sliced, not greasy - and served with a creamy dipping sauce slightly sweet with nutmeg.
