Was very hungry. Wait time at around 7:30 ish on a wedensday nite was quick. Food had no spice , or much taste , guess sorta bland. Next time I'll order some sauca dip to pour over , I lot hot spicey food. Dish look nice on plate. Chicken enchilada and burrito, beans an rice.. Two others was with me, I think they said same, food was so so..Clean place. I guess only bad point was small parking area , specially if ur driving big dully trucks.. So pick less busy time for adaqute parking..there is large parking area at the banc casnio , same side of street , easier to walk not far at all..
Started the day on the other side of the Sonora Pass in California and ended it in Salt Lake City, following US 6 from north of Bishop onwards. Tonopah would be my only chance to eat between Lee Vining, Cali., 130 miles behind, and Ely, 170 miles ahead. Benton, Cali. is not much more than a gas station and the only settlement of consequence heading west and Warm Springs, Nev. to the east was a gas station and something more, but the clapboards covering that up are weathered. So, I looked up a place to eat. El Marques was the only one with a review worth following up. I'm glad I did. Wonderful food, quick service, and great atmosphere. There was a kid who was waiting for a table about the same time. I asked him where he was headed - 'San Francisco' in a sing-songy dreamy way that recalled the summer of '67, if I had been old enough to remember it. Table next to me talked of the history of their ranch in the Armagosa Valley. Not being from the state, I would venture this place is real Nevada.
Good food friendly service
Great tequila selection, good beer selection, excellent appetizers, fairly good Mexican dishes. It is Tonopah, after all, so it's quite unique and the cast of characters that go in there is quite varied. Definitely worth a stop!
I loved the Cameron Ranchero it is one of the best. I left Tonopah two nights ago and I am still dreaming of the jumbo shrimp with the sauce .
