Never been dissapointed with San Marcos. By far the best mexican food in Carson City. Our office is nearby and we have lunch there atleast once a week. DELICIOUS!! Friendly staff, authentic food, great prices!
This is a great restaurant hiding inside an unsuspecting shopping plaza. I had no idea they even existed and happened to stop in. I have never had anything that wasn't excellent. Food is well seasoned and unique compared to many other options in town.
Stopped in at San Marcos Grill on a recent trip to Carson City, and went away wishing that it was in Reno. I had the Shrimp Tostadas lunch special, which, at $7.99 was reasonable, considering the large number of shrimp. The shrimp were cooked just right, with a nice spiciness. My wife had a lunch special combo of one taco, and a chili relleno, also $7.99. The chili relleno was made with a large poblano chili, and was also tasty. We also ordered the tableside guacamole, which at $6.99, is a don't miss! The guacamole is prepared with a myriad of ingredients for your selection, and is enough for four people. Bottom line: we'll be back!

One of the things I've observed about restaurants, is they very rarely ever get BETTER with time. If a place starts out great, I just hope they can keep it there. If a place is not so good, its rare they they will get a whole lot better in time. This place started out great, and it was a fresh change from the old school places here in Carson. But sadly to say San Marcos has gone downhill. The drinks are still great as is the table made guacumole, but the rest of the food has just taken on this generic Mexican taste. The worst was this last time I got the special chicken mole' enchalidas and they were little sorry dried things with mole' on top. Now I was expecting some liquid amount of sauce, instead it was like a brown painting on top of the 2 poor enchalidas. I guess I'll just have to stick to drinking and guac at this place for now on.
