Probably the best place to sit down and eat in Tularosa if you're not in a rush. The food is good and they usually give you a lot of it. I always order the sopaipillas after my meal, very delicious!
It's my favorite Mexican restaurant in Otero County, not only because their food is served on real plates and silverware but because its interior design is decorated very nicely. The owner always welcomes us friendly and their food tastes great. Some dishes can be a little pricey for this area (seafood, steak) but not too much that it could keep us away from going out for lunch or dinner over and over again. Try their "Sizzling Fajitas", you can mix it up and go for chicken, beef, shrimp or all three. The portions are so big, that it easily feeds two. Just get three more tortillas on the side. They serve complimentary salsa and nachos before and a sopapilla with honey after. My favorite dish is their taco salad, of course, everything on it, but the dressing on the side. When you're ready to pay upfront, don't forget about the 10% military discount and take a look at the souvenir corner. Enjoy!
Best Fried Avocados EVER
I moved to Otero County in 2007 and I had given up hope of finding a decent Mexican restaurant until I found Casa de Suenos. Excellent quality and good variety. I've tried the Chimichanga, it was excellent. Also the two kinds of salsas served with the homemade tortilla chips were a great opener to the meal, but be aware, the green one kind of catches your breath! I especially liked the free sopapillas served at the end of the meal. One gets tired of the chain restauraunt sugar and cinnamon version, this was more homestyle and a very pleasant ending to the meal. I intend to try the salmon on my next visit.
Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. Underwhelmed by the food, but they did have good drinks and variety in selection.
