I am writing this review due to a recent visit to this establishment. We made arrangements to meet with friends at the Bull and Bear Tavern on Friday night, there were 5 in our party. I have been there many times and have always had a positive experience. All last week I heard the advertisements on the radio and that's what prompted us to choose the Bull and Bear. Some of us ate and we all drank, I think we were there four hours. The dining room was not full but the bar was crowded, there was a gentleman singing and the atmosphere was festive. We had a great time, until after we paid our bill. The waitress was okay but several times we had to get another employee to get our waitress for us. Sometime around 12:15 she approached our table with our bills and told us if we wanted anything else we would have to go to the bar because she was going home. Our bills together came to about $180.00. Now when it came time tip our waitress we only tipped 10 percent due to her lack of attention and attitude when presenting the bill. We got up from our table and decided we would sit outside for awhile, your outside area is very nice. We sent a member of our party back inside for a couple sodas and a couple drinks. He was told that the one person in our party could not have anymore drinks because she already had 6. Then the bartender (White haired woman with ponytail and glasses) said none of us could drink any more including the sodas! So our friend came back and told us that, we continued to sit there a little longer, maybe 10 minutes and then someone walked over to the window where the lights are and turned them off, there we were sitting in the dark. No one said it was last call or closing, we were just left in the dark. We are are all adults and our behavior was in no way obnoxious or offensive to anyone. At this time it was only 12:30 am. I'm assuming that we were treated like that due to the low tip, and that our waitress told the bartender and they were retaliating. Tipping the waitress low was not due to us being ignorant in any way, all of us at that table have worked in the restaurant industry at one time or another, my mother was a waitress when I was growing up and we are aware that a waitress lives off her tips not her paycheck. But tipping is not mandatory and if the service is not good then the tip suffers. I have wondered since Friday night if the owners condone this kind of behavior to their customers. I'm sorry to say that we will no longer visit this establishment due to the apprehension of how we would be treated and what your employees would do. Its a great place and I will miss going there. I wonder how the owners feel about this considering all the advertising they have been doing lately. Good luck with the place.
Excellent Food, Service, Atmosphere and Entertainment. Great place to meet and make new friends! I visit Bull and Bear often and have only had positive AAAAA+++++ experiences! Would recommend.
Great Place to relax. Love the sandwiches, apps and entrees. My favorites Tuna Bites, 9th Street Hoagie & Pork Milano.
The last 2 reviews must have been from the old owners/food....this is a great stop for food and drinks. "Anything" you order on the menu is always good from apps to Entre's!
