Avenue Le Club
Reviews
Modern French Cuisine on the Jersey shore - I love this place! It reminds me so much of the grand Parisian Brasseries I used to dine at in Paris with a much more modern architecture and decor. Service is always prompt and efficient - the food is consistently very good and the menu even if expensive to some budgets, has a little bit of everything to all tastes. I look forward to going to Avenue whenever I come to visit friends in the area - I always make reservations for Sunday brunch, which is absolutely decadent - a table by the window might be hard to get, but Avenue never disappoints. Great dining experience!
I am surprised by some of the reviews I've read. I've been here several times and have never experienced poor service. I can't say the service was anything special, but it was pretty average. The food has been very good as well. As for the prices, I don't see it as overpriced. It's pretty much in line with similar places. In fact many similar places are ala carte, so it's not expensive at all in my opinion for the kind of place it is. I have also had the pre-fixe meal and that was an extremely good deal. Good drinks too. They have a menu with prices hanging up outside. That's why I don't understand the complaints about being overpriced. You know the prices before you even go in if you care to look. I think if you don't want to pay the prices, then you should go somewhere else rather then eat there and then complain about the prices.
If I could give this place NO stars I would do so, please people stay away from this place, over priced and bad service. The thing that most upset me was that because there was only 3 in my party, I was NOT ALLOWED to sit by the water. This is discrimination. Is my money not green enough to sit by the water??? Do NOT GO HERE. I live in NJ and I am in the service business and I will never tell anyone to go here. This was going to be a special night of BFF and I could have gone anywhere, I am sorry I went here.....................
Avenue is a fantastic restaurant to go to in the winter months. You can sit by the cozy fireplace and still enjoy a view of the ocean (the beach looks amazing when covered with snow!). Also, it's a little known fact that oysters thrive in cold water so not only is Avenue's raw bar outstanding to begin with, it's particularly delicious in January and February. The bar also features seasonal specialty cocktails, which are innovative, fresh and yummy! We absolutely love Avenue and plan on visiting often this winter!
I have been to this venue many times and after recent events at an event I was hosting I will never return. The entire staff is rude, liars, and possibly dangerous. First of all the event planners are liars. The main event planner wasn't even there for our event, clearly because she knew what was going to happen at the end of the night. She knew there was going to be a problem because she had lied about a few details of the club in the evening. The bouncers are aggressive and threatening to the point of threatening your life and the lives of your guests. You will be risking getting beaten by absolute trash and scum of Long Branch and surrounding towns if you go here. I am not making this up; my group was told by a wall of bouncers that we would be beaten by them. We were also told we were risking our lives there. Yes, "beaten" and "risking our lives" were words used by the bouncers. Seriously? This is your remark to not only to a group of men, but women also? Clearly Avenue has zero class and is trying to parade itself as a club on the caliber level of Manhattan. The truth is they are garbage and scary. I am an avid club-goer of Manhattan for many years, I have never encountered a club or lounge that acts like this ever! I have never once in my life felt like I was risking my safety in a club in the city. I think this whole place is a scam. They will charge you and all of your friends nearly $40-$50 dollars cover (including ladies) and then harass you to the point you would be afraid to walk around alone. Bouncers should be there to help out for belligerently drunk guests and people who don't pay. They should not be there to intimidate your life when you have spent THOUSANDS of dollars on a private event and have a group of guests that is willing to spend more and has been a great group with absolutely no problems. Avoid this place at all costs. Its no wonder the club half empty most of the time even in the summer. Its because people would rather have fun then be worried they are going to be "beaten" or worse by the bouncers. Never going back.
