The only traditional diner in the growing town of New Rockford, North Dakota. When choices are limited, expectations are not high. So it was when I first visited the Rockford Cafe. Unfortunately, I happened to hit it on the Saturday morning of a huge wedding taking place in the afternoon. There were over 400 souls converging on this small town and the Rockford Cafe was the only place to have breakfast. So I ended up waiting about an hour and a half for breakfast. But the atmosphere was fun, so I took it all with a grain of salt... maybe two or three (I was getting hungry and the salt shaker started looking good). Good basic breakfast servings including pancakes, sausage gravy, home fries, and eggs cooked to order. Not greasy spoon at all. The wait staff was friendly, and although swamped, took time to make sure we all had our drinks refilled and letting us know the progress of our food order. Will try lunch in the near future, but need to check the community calendar and make sure there's nothing happening in town that day...
