Cook's Barbecue
Reviews
reasonably priced, great food! Over fourty years in business. We will be traveling an hour to eat here again. Highly recomend you go there.
I love Lexington style BBQ and I have tried multiple places. Hands-down, Cook's is the BEST.
I travel the country in search of good BBQ because I am retired and have nothing better to do. :)) This place did not disappoint me. Lexington style BBQ is different than the mustard based BBQ joints of the southern Carolinas and the red BBQ sauces of the Southwest. In the Southwest, BBQ beef is called "brisket" and in TN, VA, and NC it is called "sliced beef." The "sliced beef" at Cooks was superb! I was a little disappointed at the bland dipping sauce for the ribs, but the chopped pork made up for that. Theri home made red BBQ sauce served warm is very good as well. This place is found off the beaten path because you have to drive through a sub-division to find it... but it is worth the trip. Portions are generous and in my opinion - inexpensive. I took a meal home with me for tomorrow :). Next stop - Lexington BBQ from the "as seen on tv" show!
Here in Lexington, most BBQ restaurants are only about the pork, but Cook's has GREAT slow cooked chicken as well. Typical settings, but way above average food, generous portions, and typical or slightly higher than typical prices, but still very fair. They are worth following the signs to find.
People there are aksome food is great
