I really like this place because they are very friendly and if you are looking for the best onion rings in town then by far the Hitchin' Post has them, and If your looking for a place to eat that is reasonable priced then they are also the place to eat at and the best part about the Hitchin' Post is they are not going to charge you an arm and a leg for a cup of coffee, which is probably why I see the groups of elderly people out there.

Ate twice at the Hithchin Post as I rode my bike cross country this past summer (2012). Arrived on a very warm day and the waitress took one look at me and brought over a pitcher of water for me to have. She anticipated my needs and met them. Food was good and reasonably priced!

The four of us stopped here after asking the local librarian about where to eat. At 2:00 PM the place was packed and we took the last open table. The locals come for the homemade pie and affordable prices. The patty melt was perfect as was the bacon chesse burger. The salad was typical mid-west fair with lots of iceberg lettuce, but fresh and crisp. We'll go back next time we are in the area.
