My husband and I are thrilled to hear that Bongo's Bistro is open again. It has been our all time favorite and best loved restaurant for both of us. The prime rib is the best we have ever had, and my husband has ordered it probably 50 times. I explore the rest of the menu (I get a few bites of his) and think chef Aubrey is a masterful chef. I have never had a bad meal there and we have been fans since before the tornado took them and most of Stockton out some years ago. The staff is always nice, especially Cher, and the prices are not high for the quality of food. The same dinner in Springfield would be 10$ to 15$ more each. The alfredo sauces and pastas, the fish, the wine sauces, are perfection. The salad with house dressing is the best ever. We drove 30 miles twice a month to eat there for years, and can't wait to go this weekend, now that we heard that they have reopened. My kids learned to appreciate good dining there and will agree with this review, too.
Going to Stockton Lake from KC, my wife and I ate at Bongo’s a couple of years ago. The place was busy (popular) I remember rather crowded during a 7ish-8ish dinner time. But we enjoyed it and wanted to go back sometime. We did go back, as part of our B&B weekend, this mid-June 2014, arriving around 9 pm. Once seated, we overheard talk between staff and another table that the place had changed hands very recently. The booths have been replaced by tables. I expect, opening things up for busy weekends. We had called ahead, and without asking were given a window table. We very much enjoyed our dinner, our drinks, our evening, and though getting later into the evening, the staff was as helpful and friendly as if their shift had just started. It struck us the positive response our server had when my wife asked her for the house salad, which our server jumped in with how she gets to prepare at our table, obvious pride in her voice. All and all, we found the food excellent, I might say a city-level restaurant, in the rural community near the lake. Not a pizza shack! A nice dining experience, being just what we wanted for a B&B weekend.
This is my wife's and I favorite restaurant. The people that work there are wonderful. The food is some of the best I have ever had in my life.
Bongos is priced highly but it is well worth it.Bongos is the place u take a date or someone u really care about.America want fatty greasy foods made fast. But that's not what Bongos is it is the real deal Italia.People here want as much fat on a pizza as they can get.Bongos is not that either.
Stick to the pasta or spicy cabobs...still way over priced on everything
