I've only ate once here. The place is never open, and the last time I was there I ate their catfish. It was okay, but the catfish was just a little bit under cooked. They did give me plenty of refills on my soda, was friendly. The decor isn't the best. I'd expect more. They have a padded ceiling, the place was extremely cold on the inside (I went during the winter) and just wasn't welcoming. I would not recommend this place to anyone thanks to them undercooking my catfish. I'm lucky it wasn't so undercooked that it could poison me.

The worse darn cookin in the county is more like it. I'm not some bitter individual who is out for revenge, but after a couple days working there and leaving, its a miracle they are allowed to be open at all. i have a culinary degree and an outstanding resume. NOTHING there is home cooked. Seriously nothing. Everything is from a box or bag. Their hamburgers sit in a pan full of water after being half cooked for the day, their specials are made and cooked well in advance for the afternoon, and they do not have even one "sani" bucket on the line for sanitation upkeep. Check out their health and safety violations and seriously consider if you would want to stop there. I do know two things for certain; 1) I (or those i know) will never eat there after what i saw, i would not even have an employee meal while i was there! 2) Route B Cafe has always been better food since i have been in Boonville anyway. I had tried both places and unrelated to this, had long made that determination not to eat at 87 Diner.

The food here is just average. Lots of bland pre-packaged tastes. The decor is basically industrial, loud, and and unwelcoming. Also, unless you like smoke wafting into your eggs, avoid 87 Diner.

We stopped there on a whim on our way back from Columbia MO on Monday. We wish they had told us that we could get breakfast anytime or that it was on the menu. We really wanted breakfast but were given a lunch menu. However, the food was good, it was very inexpensive. The portions were fairly large. And the lemon meringue pie was very good. We plan to stop again.
