I would give this place 0 stars if it were possible. First off, when I got there I had to wait almost 20 minutes to be seated and was passed by multiple employees who didn't say a word. While I was waiting the owner/manager was showing an employee how to cut a pie behind the cashier and was VERY rude to her in front of myself and a couple other customers who were also waiting. If I were treated that way I would not be associated with this place. ALSO my waitress was rude and barely checked on me. The same girl checked me out and after I was miles down the road I realized she shorted me $5 when she gave me change! I don't normally review restaurants but I had to review Smith's, I believe the girls name was Taylor. If you go here make sure to count your change before you leave and maybe request a different waitress. I'm not sure how the others are but this girl was not happy and made it very clear, it was one of the most unprofessional restaurants I've ever dealt with.

Buyer beware-if they still have chunky sausage gravy left over from breakfast, you get it on your chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes for lunch. Disgusting policy. Waitress said they're forced to do that until sausage gravy is gone. Manager said they've been doing that for 35 years - didn't offer to redo it or give refund. I HATE sausage, but even if I liked it - who wants sausage and sausage gravy on chicken fried steak? Had hairs in salad dressing. Disgusting. Brings food cold a lot of times. Only thing dependable there is the pie.

Worst service ever. Manager non customer friendly! We have been to this restaurant several times on our numerous trip from Springfield to KC. We have also just driven up to Bolivar for their famous tenderloins. This time was very different. We waited 10 min to have our drink order taken. Don't know where our waitress was, but while we waited on her, 3 other waitresses walked by our table several time cleaning tables and sweeping. Finally one stopped and asked if we had been helped yet. Told her no and she took our drink order. Our waitress deliver those drinks and our order was then taken and food delivered. We had the tenderloin dinners. VERY SALTY batter. I had to scrape mine off, which caused me to loose a lot of the gravy on top. One person at our table got a drink refill, while the other two got nothing. Then, we waited to get our tickets. I finally got up to ask to speak with the manager and was told "She is not here, but will be soon". I was so mad, I just wanted to get out of there. We finally did get our tickets and were paying (or had already paid) for our meal, when the manager shows up saying "I'm sorry, I wasn't here, tell me what happened". I Explained everything to her and all she said was "I'm sorry" - no offer to pay for our meal, give us a voucher for a free meal in the future or anything. Very disappointed in this restaurant. I don't believe we'll be going back to Bolivar's Smith's Restaurant again. Jackie Shields - wife.

Nice place...clean, nice service but the menu is nothing but fatty stuff, nothing for a health conscious diner. If you love fried, you'll like it, I just can't eat junk like that anymore. Even the veggies were fattening. The salad is cheap iceberg lettuce, the kind you get pre packaged with other yucky salad stuff in it, I prefer a better quality salad

Good breakfast. Homemade biscuits and gravy. I like a more peppery gravy, but this had sausage in it and I didn't run out of gravy for the biscuit.
