Not from the area. Chose Gene's for lunch because the building looked better maintained than other restaurant options in town. Menu options were very limited -- basically burgers, sandwiches, and nachos. The prices were a little high considering you get chips instead of fries with your basket. (The waitress told us they don't have a deep fryer.) Service was a little on the slow side, but friendly. Food was decent.
The burgers are great.
Is a fun place to unwind on the weekend. I just wish they had more bartenders and waitstaff on Friday and Saturday nights then you wouldn't have to wait so long for a drink. But the entertainment is usually good. My father usually takes my oldest daughter to lunch there. She loves it. She feels so grown up.
It was a nice place:) Ducks Unlimited banquet was a blast!!!
