The food is very good. Not your usual greasy bar food. The chef (who I think is also the owner) must have been to chef school and it shows. Thank you for being so awesome!
I love this bar. Great food and awesome drinks. Lake access and non-oxy gas. Very easy to get to by snowmobile as well.
Hi All, This place is little known other than to the locals. They have a Prime Rib Special on Saturday nights. Prince, Queen and King Cuts. It's the BEST there is in northern Minnesota. (That includes the Pickwick in Duluth.) The "Chef" is great and so is the staff. In the summer I have the Prime Rib most Thursday nights and definetly always on Saturday nights that I'm at Round Lake. Can't wait to make a special trip next Saturday. Best regards, Roy
Horse Shoe was long owned by my best friend's grandparents and we always stop in a couple times when we come up to McGregor to visit. Happy hour specials are great. Pick a ticket to find out how much you pay. $1, 50% off, $1 off, or full price. Nothing like a little gambling with your special (they usually let you just take $1 off if you don't wanna gamble on it but what's the fun in that?). They staff are friendly and you can even find pictures of my friend's aunts imbedded in the bar. Atmosphere is laid back and it's always nice to sit outside in the summer. Food is good but nothing special. Prices are reasonable and on par with everything else up north. All in all, Horse Shoe has always had a special place in my heart and we'll continue going there every visit up north.
