A good small-town diner and bakery. Had the pannu kakkua, which was custardy in the middle and transitioned to lighter and fluffier at the edges. The pot roast breakfast was good, not spectacular, and the hollandaise was more of a cheese sauce, but tasty. Did not brave the cinnamon rolls as big as dinner plates out of sheer intimidation.

I visited this place twice. I absolutely loved this place. The food is awesome, the service is good too. I recommend definitely see this place if you go to Porcupine mountains and Ontonagon, MI

The downtown itself isn't the most handsome but Syl's is the hidden gem here. With the restaurant and bakery, wow! I had the strawberry shortcake 3 times over our 5 day stay at the Porkies. My family of 6 all found something to eat that they enjoyed. Beef wraps, pasties, fish and chips, burgers, shakes, pies, it was ALL good! We even bought donuts for the next morning that we were pulling out. Those were yummy too.

I have been going here for years. This is a good small town cafe with hearty food and friendly service. The pasties are especially good.

If you're on your way over to the Porkies, stop here for breakfast first. Open at 6am unlike most other places, you can get an early start on your trip. Remember to bring cash though, as they don't take cards!
