Hooligan's Grill
Reviews
Any time I've eaten here I've had a great experience and super delicious food!!!
This place is a decent place to eat when you're limited to Adrian. As far as the food goes, it is edible, but not much past that, and definitely not worth the prices. I would definitely make the 45 minute drive to Ann Arbor to receive better food. Also, their mango salsa is overrated and they seem to put it on EVERYTHING, so beware. The image I have attached is of one of their take out burgers which was mediocre and sloppy.
Frankly, I am not surprised at all by the previous reviews of Hooigan's. We went there last night, our second visit, our first was bad but we decided to give it another shot since Adrian is small and choices are limited. The first time we went, we sat at the bar. This was shortly after they opened. The owner stood right in front of us doing dishes in the bar sink. She did not even look up much less welcome us to her new restaurant. The food was mediocre at best, although they did accomadate my request for a turkey rueben instead of corned beef. Our second visit started with sitting at one of the high top tables. The first one we tried to sit at was so wobbly it had napkins and sugar packets under the legs to try to sturdy it which did no good. It was really bad, a drink spill waiting to happen. We then moved to another high top table which was almost as bad and also had items under the legs. We had to be careful the whole time sitting there so no one got spilled on. There were 5 of us and we all were having cocktails. We got our first round shortly after we sat down. We never got drink refills until half way through our meal. We were so thirsty eating without beverages we finally had to go hunt down our server and request more drinks. When our food came out one of the side dishes was wrong. Not that big of a deal really, but topped with everything else we experienced here, in hindsight it was just one more thing they do very poorly. The food was ok. Priced fairly. We like the atmosphere here, other than the pretentious owner who was paying more attention to the man she was with than making sure her restaurant is running well. When we were done we had to request our bills. That was at 7:13pm. At 7:51 our server finally showed up with our bills. Which were wrong and when pointed out she asked "how"? When I told her she said "sorry" and walked away. At one point while we were waiting for our bills we were told that their computer had frozen. After another several minutes one of the people we were with went up to our server who was working with the owner on the computer and asked how much longer as she needed to get going and the owner's reply was "I am working on it, you need to go sit down". Needless, to say, we will not be visiting Hooligan's again. I would NOT recommend this restaurant. It's really too bad to because it could be a really cool place with the right people running it.
Very poor service -- only two servers for 10-13 tables. Slow! Cold inside. Did now have about half of the items we selected. Food was poorly prepared -- asparagus had not been trimmed, so I bit on a woody stem. Seasoning was mediocre. We will not return.
