In search of the perfect lobster roll in Maine has been one of the themes of this road trip with my friend Kathy. To me, the perfect lobster roll is lobster that one can see was actually a lobster once, not all chopped up, but in chunks. Personally, I like tail and claws in my roll, served on a buttered toasted bun, with the butter on the bun before it is toasted. Kathy prefers her lobster roll with a little mayo and only claw meat. Captain's Fresh Idea satisfied both of our yearnings. I had the naked roll: generous portion of lobster although only the claws on a butter toasted bun. Kathy had the regular with a touch of mayo. Fantastic cole slaw and a lovely summer ale from Shipyard's. Becky, the owner of the restaurant along with her husband, is right there on the floor supervising her staff of friendly and courteous servers. Kathy need look no further for her perfect lobster roll!
