I love Mexican food but this food was terrible i didn't even bother bringing it home for my.dogs
Unfortunately, Tortilla Flats has a split-personality disorder. I have never had anything less than an excellent experience in the bar area (it always seems to be lively and fun). On the other hand, some of worst customer service I've ever had - EVER - was while I was sitting in the dining room/outdoor seating area. For example, my boyfriend and I were craving their veggie chimi's (which are flippin' awesome). We decided to sit out in the screened in dining area. Now, there was only TWO couples in the entire dining area: us and another couple getting ready to leave. The waitress came in and took care of them, looked up at us, and walked away. This happened multiple times. We sat there for eighteen minutes being totally ignored before walking out. That kind of "service" (if that's what you can call it) is utterly uncalled for. I've also had waiters follow me from my seat to the bathroom and back again, suspiciously watching to see what I was going to do (seriously - creepy? I think so.). Go hang out in the bar area on nights where there are liquor promos or if it's a drinking holiday, because that's really where it's at and when it's at it's best.
I love the quirky vibe that this place delivers. Agreed, management seems to be missing, but the personality of the restaurant as a whole just wouldn't be the same if it were run like an Olive Garden or Chilis. Food is GREAT, drinks are stiff and it's easy on my wallet. My fav. local mexican grub, by far!
As with any eatery, good management is crucial. This place doesn't have it. Waited in the bar for a table. Got the bill for drinks before getting the drinks. 30 min later, got a table. Sat at the table with no service until the free chips and salsa were gone. After another 30 minutes of no service, decided to leave, drive 5 miles to an authentic Mexican restaurant, get awesome service and better food than this dump will ever see. If you don't really like mexican food, or like long waits, this is the place. Otherwise skip it. Want real mexican and awesome service?? FAJITA GRILL IN WESTBROOK IS THE PLACE.
We just ate here, and had a great meal, very nice waitress... Would go again for sure
