Gritty McDuff's
Reviews

The homemade fried potatoes chips and the fish basket was delicious. Washed down with a gritty's beer definitely perfection. It was perfect Yummy! :D At the same time they got activities in the back you can play horse shoe but I wasn't interested in the game just looking for fuel after a long day work.

Whenever you enter Gritty's, there is always people talking, making it a lively and interesting place. It's part pub so there's nothing new there. This means, however, that there are many customers and orders take quite a while to get to your table. This is a place to talk, though, so that takes up most of the wait. Some of the walls are painted with possibly age-sensitive material- I won't go into detail- but no one ever really notices. Anyways, when the food arrives, it is very tasteful, making it worth the wait. During the summer, there is an option to eat outside and kids can play on the play set. This is pretty handy for parents. Gritty's is a must-go to place for people visiting Maine and for local residents.

If you're any kind of ale/microbrew lover and you're in Freeport, Auburn or Portland Maine than you're really doing yourself an injustice by not visiting Gritty McDuff's. They are Maine's original brew pub and have an awesome selection of ales. No matter the season, all their ales are great!

We just went in for beer so can't comment on the food. Had a great bartender and enjoyed ourselves from that aspect but after a taste of all the beers they had on tap I would have preferred to just get up and walk out. We ordered two pints since the bartender was nice enough to give us so many samples but yuck, its just bad beer.

Great food and great place to just relax and have fun!!!
