Bears Den Motel, Restaurant & Tavern
Reviews
Great food, quick service, lots of parking for sleds, and easy access from ITS-82 via ITS-85. We enjoyed this place a lot and will return frequently!
The waitress and other employees were very friendly and our food came in a timely manner, but there was hardly any other people eating there at the time. We had the baked stuffed haddock dinner. The best way to describe the dinner is "generic." The stuffing was mushy and I couldn't find any crab or other seafood in it. The haddock was okay, but nothing to write home about. When offered cheese on top of the fish, I asked if it was cheddar and was told yes. (It sounded like it would be real cheese grated or thinly sliced over the top.) It came with cheese sauce instead of cheese, which added to the overall mushiness of the dish. The sides were okay, but not great. I got canned peas, which I don't expect at a restaurant. We've never stayed in one of the cabins, but can attest to the beauty and versitily of the trails, lakes, and rivers in the area. The free beach at Sebec Lake is only about 4.5 miles up the road and is really nice for families.
I'm only giving a "good" review because the food was acceptable, the cabins were clean but needed some upgrading, and the service was very friendly but a little slow. We went here a couple years ago for a snowmobiling trip and found it very accessible to the local and ITS trails. Parking for our trailer and snowmobiles was great. All we really cared about was a place to lay our heads. We also have a small dog and it was good to be able to have him in a safe and warm environment while we were out playing.
Love staying here when I go to visit my family.
Very lively Friday and Saturday night crowds.
