Stone Ridge Restaurant and Tavern
Reviews
We've traveled extensively in the UK and this place comes the closest to classic fish & chips (UK style) we've tasted yet in the US. The fish is fried in a dedicated fryer, and the batter is light and not greasy. It's not a fancy place, but clean and a very good value. Recently, I've come to particularly like the baked stuffed scallop dish. The food portions are excellent on the fried food, and the the included salad bar, while not extensive, has very fresh and tasty fare.
3/rd time not a charm. Been there twice b4 -wonderful. 3rd time had lobster roll. Asked if handpicked - not frozen. Was told handpicked. Twasn't. Onion rings typical frozen fare also. Lovely wife had fried shrimp. Dry and overcooked. A.disappointing trip. What happened?
We were heading out to dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were going to Bay Haven but as we arrived it discovered it closed. We continued down the road looking for an alternative and came upon the Stone Ridge. What a pleasant surprise!!! Nice cozy atmosphere and the food was absolutely fantastic. My wife's baked stuff lobster-WOW!, I had prime rib-another WOW!!! The waitress didn't know the difference between cabernet and chardonney but that was minor. Great service otherwise. for a shot in the dark, a wonderful experience and we will be back
The food is fantastic. My wife & I have had lunch there twice and it's become our favorite restaurant. Free salad bar with every lunch item, The lunch fried clams & scallops were absolutely delicious and plentiful for a more than reasonable price. The restaurant is immaculate and the service is excellent. All in all, it was a a 5 star experience both times. We expect to eat there many more times in the future.
Some of the grossest food around. I admit I am a food snob but I tried this place twice and both times the food was very poorly prepared and inedible. If you love that food you must also love Applebees or the Ground Round and places like that...YUCK!
