Waterman's Crab House Restaurant & Dock Bar

Here are the facts: On Sat., 8/16, we had a party of 20. Since we were staying at Great Oak Marina, we had a member of our party drive over there to place a reservation. Later, the rest of us drove over and waited for a table. While waiting, I noticed 3 tables in the corner that were empty. I inquired to see if we could be seated there. The hostess said there were no servers for those tables. Ok. After awhile, 2 separate tables became available, and our party split up. The table I sat at was next to the dance floor so I faced the band, not seeing behind us. Both tables gave there orders at about the same time. HERE'S where it starts. Our other table received there order. OUR ORDER DID NOT ARRIVE UNTIL WELL OVER 1 1/2 HOUR AFTER WE PLACED IT. THAT'S RIGHT. THIS IS NOT A TYPO. A member of our party informed me that she saw other people coming in after us, getting served and leaving !!!! The owner came out. I approached him in a calm manner and relayed the fact of the other parties being served before us and leaving. THE OWNER STARTED SCREAMING AT ME, SAYING HE WAS BUSY AND WHY DIDN'T WE MAKE A RESERVATION. I told him, that indeed,we did. Screaming and carrying on, he yells, your lucky I'm even serving you !!! Again, he was screaming at us,his customers, when, clearly, all we did was come to eat. None of us ordered alcohol. The food was very mediocre at best. The stuffed flounder was cold. The crab soup was hearty, but over peppered and had little or no crab meat whatsoever. This place is a tourist trap and the owner is in the wrong line of work. Stay away !!!! (I wished he did refuse to serve us, I would have filed a federal civil rights suit). NOTE: The server was great, it was not her fault. She did the best she could and took 10% off the tab Maybe the owner could learn something from her. We gave her a 20% tip.
9/14/20013~~Wanted to get away for the day so what better than a drive from central PA to the Eastern Shore! Stopped at Rock Hall and decided to eat at Waterman's. Ate there years ago when visiting Chestertown. Had a nice table outside...beautiful day and not real hot. I had the Fish & Chips which was delicious...like their seasoned fries (Old Bay?) and coleslaw is good...not too creamy. Hubby had the Crab Pot with 4 crabs, clams, muscles and shrimp with red potatoes and corn. Our service wasn't the best as I watched the other wait staff. All the tables got a large pitcher of water with lemon in it but we didn't. (didn't notice that till we were almost done with meal) Waitress didn't check on us a lot...maybe she was working the inside also...not sure. Hubby had to ask for a bucket to put crab shells, etc, in while eating plus a mallet and some other stuff too which should have been given to him before the meal. Beer was very cold! (a plus) Relaxing to sit and stare at the water..summer crowds gone. Would go back again!
Right on the water in Rock Hall. The service was fast and friendly. The crab cake was awesome. I should've had two.
Perhaps the crabs and crab cakes are good, but don't order the blackened tuna or try the house Cabernet. I've had better wine from a box; no doubt the water spots on the glasses did not help. As for the tuna, I've had better from a can.
Went there the week after Labor Day and the Crabs were large, full and sweet. Cooked and seasoned just right. Also had fired oysters and they were wonderful. Wait staff was prompt, the kitchen was accommodating and everyone was friendly. Kitchen made special dish on request. We ate out on the deck and watched the sunset - WOW very nice evening!
