I normally don't write reviews, but I still feel a sore throat, which promoted me to write this. I was in Frostburg for a week for my birthday and since I was hungry for buffalo wings decided to come to Wild Things for by birthday dinner. I was recommended Gianni's Pizza for wings, but thought I would give Wild Things a try. Right off the back the wings seemed pretty pricey, $10 for 12 wings. Then they charged me extra for blue cheese dip when the menu noted all wings come with blue cheese. It took them 15 minutes to finally take my order, which I remember because I was just about to walk out after 15 minutes passed. It took ages to bring the food as well, almost half an hour and the place was pretty empty. I ordered cheese fries which was actually not bad, but it was just a little layer of fries covered in melted cheese. The bad thing was it was served on tin foil which I kept tasting, as the melted cheese would tear out little bits of tin foil. After the meal you can see many holes in the tin foil which stuck to the melted cheese. Though I was able to catch most of the foil, one piece did end up in my throat which caused me a coughing fit. My water hadn't been filled once and I had an empty glass. One of the servers asked me what was wrong and I told her. She just filled the glass and walked away with out a word while I was still dealing with the tin foil in my throat. Regardless I still gave a nice tip (after the fact I noticed I tipped over 25% for poor service) because I assumed everyone had off days but even with tipping her over 25% she just basically tossed my change and receipt to me. It must say it was the worst birthday meal I have had in a long time. Normally poor service doesn't get to me, but perhaps it was just my birthday, but it really did just bug me all night. The meal I had at Queen City Creamery the next day was a far better birthday meal.
For the socialite: If you love large crowds and good beer, this is the place, mainly on Thursday nights for the Frostburg student. For the Beer connoisseur: One of the few places in the whole of western MD that has Californian beer on tap. I'm heavily impressed and in love. They have a large selection, and one that required good taste to build. For the hungry man: I have never been disappointed by taste nor portion of their menu. A hearty well constructed meal every time. I'm actually scared to try another restaurant in town full well knowing i could miss one of Wild Thing's big, warm fish sandwich and a tall cool class of Arrogant Bastard Ale...mmm....
Great place to eat if you ride the train up from Cumberland. They work hard to get you back to the train on time. Yummy beer, wings, and pizza as well.
Currently the best pizza in frostburg, hands down.. Wings are very similar to giannis but a little more pricey here..
Make sure to check your credit card statements after you leave here. They will run your tab twice and then refuse to fix it. Poor service.
