Tory Row
Reviews
Despite living near Harvard for the past 6 years, I have never made it to Tory Row before the other night. In the past, I was turned off by the idea that there wasn't a lot of room in the place and that it seemed touristy. My friend was visiting from NYC so we all decided to give Tory Row a shot and I was pleasantly surprised. There wasn't a line at the door and my group of friends (there were 11 of us at one point) could easily fit at one of their long tables. While I didn't have any food, I did have a porter (nitro!!) and a pumpkin cider I had never heard of before -both were really great. Paying was also a painless process which was greatly appreciated.
Much like it's sibling institution of Miracle of Science, this place has great design, very good food and a solid beer selection. Bonus points for having Gritty's Black fly stout on draft at all times.
Ah, Tory Row. How I hate to love you. On the one hand, your smart industrial design plays to the deep yearnings of my heart, on the other hand, you don't serve cocktails. Yes sangria is delicious and refreshing, but so is a mojito. On the one hand, your kale salad is quite possibly the only dish containing kale that I'll eat, but on the other hand your bar is so small that it becomes vastly over crowded so easily. I know it's a small space, but still. And finally, on the one hand your prices are too high for what you're giving me and there is no other hand. I'll visit a few times over the summer when a friend suggests we go, but otherwise, I'll stay elsewhere.
Friendly service, quick service, great breakfast. Atmosphere is industrial design, wood and metal. Breakfast was phenomenal, very simple but they pay attention to details. Julian's (providence) quality. Only minus is that they have no espresso based drinks.
Great location, good beer, bad food. Been coming here on and off last 6 months and food choices and quality has taken a nose dive. Too bad. Check it out for drinks and location but eat elsewhere.
