Henrietta's Table
Reviews
This place is very hit or miss, in my opinion. I have had some amazing meals and experiences there, and other times it really missed the mark. The best things I've eaten there are the roasted chicken (YUM), mashed butternut squash (it is actually better than the mashed potatoes, which were still really good), and the chicken pot pie (this might be a seasonal dish). The salads I have had here have not been extraordinary. The bread is always good. The service also tends to be hit or miss. The ambiance is very warm and welcoming. It's a very interesting concept, and somehow works for all 4 seasons! I will go back, but probably be a bit more careful about my ordering...
Crab cakes are money and strawberry basil ice cream was awesome. Summer + patio is always awesome. Really no complaints, lots too choose from around Harvard Sq, I wouldn't hesitate to come back.
I'm usually pretty generous as far as reviews go but I could not give Henrietta's Table a pass, at least for brunch. Immediately walking in the place was a dingy mess as were the bench seats I was ushered to (stained). Everything, the food, coffee and juice were exactly room temperature. As for the food itself, stale bagels a runny mess of a ravioli dish and odd, overly salty veggie/seafood pate bites with a clear jelly on the top (??). The cheeses were sweaty and runny (not having been on ice) and the fruit suffered the same fate. At $50 per person I was expecting so much more, heck, I've had better at $20 per person brunches or hole in the wall diners. I'm sure their regular menu is much better but after this dismal experience, I'm not really motivated to try it. Still trying to contact someone to resolve this
I went to Henrietta's table with the fam about a week ago. I hadn't been there since becoming a vegetarian and was pretty surprised at the lack of veggie options. I'm consistently surprised at (in my mind) high end restaurants that just don't have much in the way of veggie options. The dish was in season veggies, beans and home-made tortillas (commonly refered to as "Tacos"). The server informed me that it was a really popular option. I am not a rude person so I did not tell her my thoughts, yes when you run a big restaurant in Cambridge and only have one vegetarian option, I'm sure it will be popular. I didn't get that option because I can make myself delicious tacos for fractions of the cost. Overall the food I did choose was OK. I got heirloom tomatoes with mozz and balsamic reduction. This is probably my fault, its too early in the season for good tomatoes, and these tomatoes weren't good. Also got a small, but amazingly tasty, portabella mushroom with a cheese that was something like farmhouse dance, great name. Anyways, as a veggie, I would reccomend staying away from Henrietta's. The options were overpriced and decent at best. Maybe the meat was excellent, but I can't vouch for it.
place is fairly quiet and can accommodate groups. food is decent.
