I live down the street, I am from Florida and if you ask me this food is AWESOME! The prices are much better than what I am used to, and the Gumbo is amazing!
Loved it yummy stake
My husband and I went here for dinner one night. After waiting for an hour and a half for our food, which still wasn't ready, we gave up and finally had it boxed to go. What irritated us the most was we had asked our server if there was a long wait. We were told not really, and then had over an hour wait and no one from our waiter to the top management was concerned.
I have been many times. The staff is always friendly. The food is ALWAYS good. It can be pricey, but where isn't these days.
I went to lunch and ordered a half and half plate today at the Hill Top. I was shocked when I was handed the bill for $23.61 for ONE lunch. I looked at the menu and saw the price was 15.95 for the half and half plate. My bill had 15.95 plus $2.00 for shrimp and $2.00 for oysters on it. When I asked the waitress she turned the menu over and showed me on the front of the menu where they had add a printed slip of paper stating that due to the oil spill the seafood may be more. OK, first question, who looks at the front of the menu? I know which restaurant I am at. I look at the food! Second question, When I ordered this why didn't the waitress inform me of the price change or any additional charges? The owner came out and stood by her bill. She was not very nice, professional or concerned with future business. I used go to Hill top every couple of months when I was in the area. The food is OK but I have had much better. The atmosphere is nice when you are able to sit outside and enjoy the view. I will continue to go out to eat in the area but will stick to places like Swamp POP where the food is excellent and much friendlier and honest people serve you.
