This place is probably one of the best places to eat in town. They will seat you immediately, no 'Oh, we're sorry, this place is full', just good service. The chips and salsa are a lot better than most others, and once you order you'll probably get your food within 15 minutes. Some of the stuff is spicy, but to be fair I am a wimp about spicy food.
I'm from Houston and this is good for a non tex mex joint.
The food at Don Juan's is authentic Mexican food, NOT American Tex-Mex, so it is not incredibly spicy. (Though some items are a bit heavy on the cilantro for me.) There is a good selection of consistently good food at affordable prices. The staff is friendly and efficient. They are happy to host larger groups and parties if you call ahead.
A very pleasant local retaurant with a large menu of reasonably priced items. The entrees tend to be a bit bland but this is in deference to local tadte. Ths is Washington Parish not New orleans and folks prefer their meals on the bland side. Service is very friendly and personal. Altogether a very pleasant dining experience.
