Chicken Annie's Original
Reviews
(Both GPS and Google Maps phone app had a hard time locating this place... so if you don't know where you're going check it out before you head out.) Wonderful local legend and well deserved notoriety. The chicken was perfect. Mashed potatoes with flavorless gravy were unremarkable as were the almost unseasoned green beans (w/ flecks of manufactured bac'o'bits). Sliced generic white bread with whipped spread (no butter available) was a disappointment. By comparison, Stroud's in Kansas City offers a much better overall meal, but Annie's chicken was much better. Still, this is a must-visit diner and you won't regret the trip or the meal.
Good food. Great service with a smile. Would come here more if I lived here. Super friendly, great atmosphere. Food was good. Not overdone, well seasoned. Sweet tea was fresh and not too sweet. Highly recommended!
Enjoyed dinner here with my family on the drive South. The portions were generous, and the onion rings were to die for! (Apparently, this is not always true, as our server told us after the food arrived.) We ordered the whole chicken meal, designed to feed four. My husband, 1 teenage son, 2 elementary daughters and I left almost half the sides and a couple of pieces of the chicken, since we were traveling and didn't have a way to keep the leftovers. :-(
Took my girlfriend there last night. She hadn't been to Annie's or Mary's so this was definitely a good start. Portion sizes are huge and frosted beer mugs never hurt. Good choice.
excellent food and service
