We had heard about Stone's Family Restaurant from some friends and we were told how wonderful the Fried Chicken was. We don't mind driving out of our way to get good fried chicken so we decided to make the trip to Stone's from Columbus Indiana. We checked their web site for the days they were open and for the hours of operation. We drove over on a Thursday evening and it took almost an hour to get there. We arrived at 7:55pm knowing that they close at 9:00pm so we had plenty of time to order and then eat. We found the family dining room locked and the lights out. So I went into the bar and asked the bartender if we could get their world famous fried chicken. He laughed...seriously, he laughed and said that he had sent the kitchen help home early so all we could get were burgers and beer. I was so angry! I had done my homework and I expected the business to be open when they advertised that they would be. How can a business do this? I am still shocked that they closed early. Very unprofessional. Needless to say that I would starve before driving to Stone's again. They don't need my money and I will tell everyone I know about this.
Great chicken! Staff friendly, but service slow...be prepared for a wait. Good atmosphere. Price up there but not too bad. Recommend if you have the time.
