Harbaugh's Cafe'

Yum. Classic, nothin' too fancy, stick to your ribs breakfast (and I guess lunch too). Always busy. Plan on waiting at least 20 min. for a table on the weekends but it's worth the wait. Always a good choice!

Great place to eat great atmosphere. It's cash only but well worth it. Also plan to have to wait.

Ironically, I've eaten there over a dozen times but I can still only give it a couple of stars. Most of the time I go it's because other people want to go. This is mainly because of the inconsistent food and because none of the dishes are really that original. It amazes me what passes for "good" food. Service is always pretty much the same. It's always packed, which I think is a big part of the reason for the inconsistency. The banana/walnut pancake is great when not overcooked and the hash browns should always be ordered extra crispy (w/ onions of course) or they are very blah. They definitely need more room and more staff to cover the volume of people. Overall however, I still think it's overrated.

When I first moved to carbondale I hadn't really heard of any good eateries in the area. The first one I was told about that is a Carbondale staple was Harbaugh's so I went with some friends who had been before. This diner blew my mind, they have the best biscuits and gravy I have ever had from a diner and their ranch potatoes are to die for. The staff has always been very nice and as a bonus they do pick up orders.

Me and a co-worker were there to perform some maintenance on the owners PC. As compensation, we were allowed to eat free. The place had lots of room to sit and eat, which you would not expect from outside looking in. Food was good. The sausage used in the biscuits and gravy was very good. I had a bacon skillet which was portioned well and tasted great. This place is definitely one of the better restaurants of Carbondale that isn't part of a large chain. Though dinner is not served, it is still worth a try.
