having known Joe for many years (both my husband and i worked there at one time) i am surprised to see these negative comments. Joe and Julie are and have been, very partial to waverly and wartburg... Joe was always good to us, and always made sure that the employees had a good time by planning special outings. So my guess would be that if you are one of those who think he is a jerk to you, chances are you caused damage in his establishment or acted like a jerk in the first place. Food is always good and i visit a few times a year, and have been treated well. Keep it it going Joe !!
Joe is a saint and a lifesaver! We had just spent the day at Wartburg, but couldn't get the car to start. Joe bent over backwards to helps us out. Offered his van for a jump, offered a car when that didn't work, and helped us get in touch with 24 hour repair service. Waverly, you're lucky to have this guy!
The place is a dump and hasn't been updated in 40 years but 45 cent wings Wednesday is a hard thing to miss! Food is good but normally expensive. So take advantage of the 45 cent wing Wednesday. Also, beer from tap tastes like water.
Good food and an enjoyable, low-key atmosphere. Unfortunately, Joe isn't a very personable guy.
I like everything on the menu. Joe needs to update the place.
