Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel & Conference Center
Reviews
During the course of 2014, my wife and I stayed at the Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel & Conference Center several times. Our last visit was for two nights back in September, and each stay was a pleasure. The staff were always friendly and helpful, the rooms very clean and comfortable, the breakfast buffet abundant and delicious. The lobby is spotless with inviting seating areas, with many interesting paintings, historic artifacts, and thoughtful touches. The veranda overlooking the beautiful golf course is spacious, with comfortable chairs and is our favorite place to eat. As mentioned before, all staff are friendly, but we'd like to single out a few who typify this wonderful hotel: Tanya at the front desk makes check-ins not only easy, but pleasant; Jenni, the dining room manager, is one of the nicest people you could ever meet, and her dining room is always beautifully appointed; Dave Jenkins, sales office executive, does a superb job regardless the size of the party or event. He's truly a bright star in the Hilton constellation. For the reasons listed, and numerous others, my wife and I highly recommend this Hilton.
The stay was okay, but one month later there was an unknown incidental charge on my credit card. I called and the staff said it was because a form was filled out wrong. I was attending a conference and was there for two days. No one contacted me while there to correct what could be wrong. Also, there were many others in attendance with the same form and my husband's was signed, so the person handling it could have made a minor correction. I have called three times and left a message with two of the staff members and neither of them have bothered to call me back to discuss a remedy for the situation. The hotel needs to review the staff, as they are the ones that affected a low rating on this hotel.
This is An Old Hotel. According to Christine (the Wedding Coordinator), this Hotel is owned by the City of Marietta and the Hilton manages this Hotel (but, does not own this Hotel). The City of Marietta gets a large percentage of the money from everything that is sold at the Hilton. According to Christine and the Male Bartenders (dressed in black with Hilton name tags), the city of Marietta refuses to do basic upkeep like replacing the carpets with nasty smelling matting beneath the carpets. The elevators have carpets that smell like urine once you step inside (and the doors close for you to go upstairs to your suite). The carpeted hallways and carpet in the suites have a strong urine smell and you can feel the slickness on the carpet. The smell is discusting! The Bartenders agreed on the urine smell and blamed it on the guests children and the intoxicated guests in the Hotel. Christine and the Bartenders both said the Hotel has paid Professional Carpet Cleaners to clean the carpets. The Carpet Pro's (according to Christine) have said the urine smell is in the carpet matting and can't be removed by steam cleaning. Instead, the carpet matting needs to be replaced. Christine and the Male Bartenders said the City of Marietta is too cheap to pay for new carpets and new matting to get rid of the old urine smell. Please change the carpets at least every two years. Also, the food in the bar was undercooked and had to be taken back and recooked (we were still charged for the mistakes of the bar). Also, WiFi at the Hotel is NOT FREE for guests. They may want to take advantage of Comcast Business Internet package that gives seperate internet access hotspot for guests (public access) at No Additional Costs (preferably Blast Speed or Better). The toilet seats in the bathrooms in the lobby were also falling off (half on). Continental Breakfast is also an extra charge. All the food and drinks were over priced. Sincerely, Jacob 05-22-2014
Robot Booth was here last week for a beautiful reception, and it was great working with the staff at the Marietta Hilton! We hope to be back soon!
Overall I thought the hotel was nice and the staff was helpful. Looked like they had a very beautiful golf course. One problem I had was it was not very close to anything.
