Gumbeaux's A Cajun Cafe
Reviews
Went here for the first time last night with my husband and parents and OMG!!! This place is the bomb dot com! Please be warned that this place is always packed and you will have a wait but it's well worth it, I promise. We had the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer which were delicious! I had the blackened shrimp and grits. It was so so so good! As someone from the south, I know that everyone can't make grits, but Gumbeaux's got it right. Nice and creamy, and the shrimp was so fresh and tender. Oh and, you get your money's worth here! They give you plenty of food for the price. We all walked out with to-go boxes. I will definitely be coming here again. Great food, atmosphere, and service!
Due to having a fussy toddler (due to horrible service and walking out at a previous place, going home, and opting for takeout) at 7 PM on Valentine's Eve, my wife and I decided the takeout option for Gumbeaux's. I went to pick it up and the area up front was packed. It took just moments after I arrived for them to acknowledge me and direct me for the pickup. Due to how busy they were it took about 20 minutes after getting there to receive our food, but they kept me up to date so I did not feel ignored. This was my first encounter with this restaurant since I moved to Douglasville a year ago, and I cannot wait to dine in!
THE WAIT!!!! was ridiculous. Not only did i wait 45 minutes to be seated (expected as much), once we were seated it took 45 to an hour before our food was served. Even after we were proactive by looking over the menu and selecting our entrees and placing our orders immediately after being seated. Come to find out, our order was never placed by the waitress. Two other tables were seated, received their food, and left before our food was ever served. And they were seated after us. The food was delicious don't get me wrong but the wait makes me never want to return.
Not from GA. This place was highly recommended by co-workers. First time today and it was some of the best cajun food I've ever had. All 9 of us enjoyed what we ate. Yes, I've been to New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana. Worth the wait and the staff was good. I'm actually eating the leftovers for dinner right now.
I'm from Chicago and I've made special trips and detours just so I can eat here. I wont eat fish or cajun food anywhere else bc it does not compare. I recommend everyone to eat here. it is busy all the time so expect to wait but well worth it but you can go upstairs and grab a drink! wonderful atmosphere!
