I had fried chicken, turnip greens, mac 'n cheese and broccoli casserole. The vegetables had been cooked VERY authentic Southern, meaning I think all the nutritional value and texture had leached out sometime much earlier in the cooking process. But the fried chicken was perfect, the broccoli casserole yummy and the mac 'n cheese was truly exceptional, really the best I've had in ages. Gina Belle's husband came around and gave us cheese biscuits fresh out of the oven that were good enough by themselves to make the trip worth it.
I don't know where Michael Smith ate, but I can tell you this is the best place to eat in the ten counties surrounding. Excellent food, service, and quaint decor. The fried chicken is the best I have ever eaten. The chicken is always moist and juicy. I have never eaten there without loving EVERYTHING I put into my mouth!!! The pineapple casserole is out of this world!!!
