We drove up to spend the afternoon in Dahlonega. We usually just stay in the little city for dinner, but I really wanted to get over to the Oar House. We both had a great experience. The trout and chicken were delicious and the sides, fresh and more than I expected in taste. The staff is adorable. Everyone is pleasant and attentive to anything we needed. The restaurant and surroundings at sunset made the atmosphere even more incredible. We will be back and we will bring more people with us. Thank you for such a great experience~

Stopped here for lunch on Sunday, October 20, 2013. I ordered the special which was a pulled pork sandwich. My husband ordered the lamb burger. The pork sandwich was terrible. The pork was so chewy and full of fat, I couldn't eat it. When the server asked how the food was, I told her it was disappointing and very fatty. She told us she would mention to the cook but no one ever talked to us or expressed any concerned over our bad experience. The pork sandwich was so gross I couldn't eat it. It didn't really taste like pork. I would never go back here and would not recommend it to anyone else. I left hungry and had to have lunch elsewhere. My husband did say the lamb burger wasn't bad. It was over $25 for lunch and a total waste.

Took the wife and kids there on a Saturday night and it was pretty full. I made reservations and still had to wait 20 minutes to get seated. The wait staff, while nice, was not very efficient (forgetting orders, not sure about anything, frazzled). The food took very long to get to the table after our order, about 1 hour and 20 minutes. With kids in tow, this was not acceptable to us. Initially I ordered the prime rib special and my son ordered a hamburger, which they were out of both. I can understand being out of prime rib, but hamburger?? I ended up with a fish dish. Each member of the family noted that the food wasn't very impressive. Overall I think the restaurant could be managed better and the price should be adjusted (downward) to reflect the overall dining experience. I would be hard pressed to go again. The Blue Bicycle, by the outlet mall in Dawsonville, is similarly priced but offers a much finer dining experience in my opinion.

FOR STARTERS THIS PLACE WAS SO OVER PRICED IT MADE ME SICK TO MY STOMACH!... I was so excited to try something new in Dahlonega, only to be so disappointed and let down. I guess my expectations were set way to high. This restaurant gives off an air of being all fancy and exquisite, when in reality Ive had better food and prompt service at chili's! It took forever to get our food (keep in mind there were only a few other couples in the restaurant), and the appetizers were merely enough for one person! Maybe 1 1/2 persons if that existed. I ordered the trout which came with rice and spinach..it was terrible! I found three bones in my fish and the rice tasted worse than plain rice that you could cook at home. I'm really not trying to bash this place...but come on when you pay $20 dollars for a piece of fish, it should be the best fish you have ever put in your mouth! Not to mention it took the fish 45 minutes to get to the table! Such a poor first impression. I probably would not even be writing this review if my meal was only $7.99 or something, but I think people should know stuff like this! Thanks hope this helps you make your decision!
