This place has great history and used to have great food and service as well. It is known for the filming of the movie Sweet Home Alabama starring Reese Witherspoon. However, ever since old man Heavy died, this place has gone down hill BIG TIME! My wife and I ate there last Saturday night with our two small kids. We were the only people in then place other than a couple of guys picking up a take out order and some weird guy that just sat around the dining area staring at the customers all while looking like he belonged in the movie Deliverance! He apparently worked there or knew the owners because he would just get slices of pies out of the cooler up front, which were just sitting in there uncovered-might I add, and start eating them... My wife and I shared our BBQ plates with our two small kids because we knew they wouldn't eat very much and the lady toldnus that it was a pretty heafty portion of food. With two BBQ plates, two sweet teas and two canned sprites, it cost me $28.00!!!!!! I couldn't believe it when she told me the total. All I could think about was how good this food must be and thag ia was gonna be worth every penny... Boy was I WRONG! Not only was that by far the WORST BBQ that I have EVER put in my mouth but it ks possibly the worst food that I have ever eaten period... Neither one of my kids would eat it. My wife and I had to force ourselves to eat 1/4 of the plate. The food was so bad that when we left. We drove an hour back home and ended up going to a local drive thru and getting something to eat... I recommend to everyone to NOT waste your hard earned money unless thay make some DRASTIC improvements...!
