The Ivy House Restaurant
Reviews
My daughter wanted to go to the Williston Ivy House for her birthday. So I looked it up on line to check out the menu and chose the steak and garlic shrimp. ($25) The waitress seemed like she really didn't want to be waiting on us. The steak looked like it was boiled on the outside and the whole meal was cold. My daughters husband returned his steak because he wanted a rare steak. The waitress said they were all out of tenderloins. Come on, out of steaks? They did bring him another steak eventually. I did notice that his potatoes he ordered were not the potatoes they described online which were suppose to be potato wedges. These were crinkle cut potatoes you can buy in any frozen foods. For $25 a meal, I really expected it to be professionally done. We had no alcohol drinks and between the three of us it cost over $100. Oh, and then the waitress didn't know what I was talking about when I asked her for the tomatoes with balsamic and basil appetizer. The fried green tomatoes were horrible. My son-in-law left the waitress $20 but she sure didn't deserve it. I would not recommend this restaurant. The online site is very misleading. For the cost of the menu, I would have expected a professionally done meal. I would do anything for my daughter, especially on her birthday but this was not a good birthday dinner for her. Maybe the Ivy House in Ocala is better. I don't think I want to take a chance of having another bad experience. I DO NOT recommend this place.
The Crispy Chicken is amazing!!! Best mac & cheese I've ever eaten! My family and I drive from Gainesville just to eat at The Ivy House!
Boyfriend's steak was literally raw and he ordered it medium rare. I didn't get the sides that I asked for. My crabcakes were soggy from the fried green tomatoes under it and the patty wasn't fully cooked. For the price, it was expensive and really disappointing. Never going back.
Southern cuisine at it's best.
The food is delightfully southern and good. However, I was there for Easter lunch and barely got home. MSG causes me to go to sleep. It's a drug! Since some people are sensitive to it I am surprised that a home cooking restaurant feels they must use it to bring the flavor out in their food and make their customers hungry. I passed out for 3 hours and when I woke up I felt drugged. Not a pleasant way to end an otherwise lovely day.
