"Backwoods" Smokehouse

the worst brisket and pork I've ever had in my life. the brisket was a big box of greasy fat. there's no way it was real brisket. it tasted like a REAL FATTY generic roast. WAY OVER PRICED for a poor quality of meat.
Stopped for lunch while heading back to Tampa from St. Augustine, it was funny, we drove past it and my fiancé was like turn around and lets try it. I'm glad we did! The décor was outdoorsy and very like a hunting cabin. We had fun looking around at all the mounted animals (including a 750lb mounted gator), old bottles, and other nic nacs they had hanging off the walls. The waitstaff was extremely friendly and helpful, but for a Sunday late lunch, we were pretty much the only ones there, making it very easy for her to do her job. Beside that she helped us go thru the menu and picked out the best food to eat. She did make a mistake and gave my fiancé bbq baked beans instead of green beans, but it was a blessing cause they were so good... plus when she notice the mistake she gave us the green beans also. Food was amazing good. My fiancé makes this face when she eats something amazing. While I was taking pictures, I notice her making it when she took a bite of the bbq beans. I was like really and tried themselves. Amazing. Probably the best beans I've have ever had. It was sweet, earthy with a ton of smoked meat parts... It was great and a must have. I had the beef, ribs, and sausage and my fiancé had chicken. All the meats were great and with a little bit of their house sauces made them even better. The only downside of the meal was the apple pie. The crust was soft which usually indicates that it was refrigerator and may not have been fresh. It was still good, but I prefer mine with a crunchy flaky crust. Overall the meal was $50 dollars for both of us with tip. It seems a little pricey, but when you receive portions like that it was worth it. It's Monday afternoon and we just finished our food. So we had meals for Sunday lunch and dinner and Monday lunch. That's a lot of food!! And the beans are great the next day too. Lastly, they also had smoke bones for your pets. My dog loved them and my fiancé is already trying to find an excuse to go back to St. Augustine so we can stop here again.
Dont know about the food the service stinks and the price dont know left afyer no service
Always a great stop . . . . wish it was closer to Tampa. Friendly folks and food that is not over smoked or sauced. Fall off the bone ribs that are nice and tasty without the need to add any special sauces, but the ones they have are good too.
What a great place to ride to for lunch. Great food and friendly service. A+++
