Decent food at decent prices. Homey atmosphere and convenient. Just a little slow and servers didn't seem to take much interest. But a nice little burger joint.
I saw this place on my way to Tallahassee, and then read good reviews on UrbanSpoon. Turned around and went back, and I am so glad that I did! Friendly service, very quaint small cafe. I had the sea monster sandwich, which I highly recommend! It comes with fries, but you can substitute another side, such as fried okra, fried squash, and others. Very good experience here!
This place was a God-send on the day we visited. We were camping at Ocklockonee State Park and got rained out. We grabbed a cheap room in Carrabelle. I'd seen this place for years and had heard it was good but never had the chance to stop in. We were cold, wet, and hungry, and this food hit the spot. It was great! To make things better, the owner came out and was talking with customers and really made everybody feel welcome. It was more than just a simple hello--he actually engaged in personal conversations with everybody. It's nice to see an owner who cares that much about his customers and livelihood.
The staff was friendly and very efficient. The seafood was the best tasting, the best priced and a large portion. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is it's small and when it's crowed it can be very loud. Also could use some class added to it, but I suppose that would drive the prices up.
A small place and looks quaint, the service was great and everyone was very friendly. But it was the food that will bring me back to this place the next time we are in that area. We had the Sea Monster Dinner at $24.95 each and it was delicious! Huge portions of various seafood and sides. Lots of other items on the menu, too. Highly recommend 2 Al's.
