Last Friday night, friends from East Hampton called and said they have been wanting to try Smoky O'Grady's and asked if we wanted to go there for some BBQ. We go in, grab a table and look at the menu to find out that it is not a BBQ place. The menu consisted more of ordinary bar food. We ordered drinks and decided to try some appetizers. We ordered a plate of Nachos and some stuffed jalapenos wrapped in prosciutto. When our waitress delivered our food, there was a tiny plate with 6 of the smallest jalapenos. Besides being small, they were burnt. The Nachos turned out to be a plate of tortilla chips sprinkled with canned corn and a tiny a mount of cheese that spent way to much time under a broiler burning the cheese to a crisp as well as the nachos.. We let our waitress know how displeased we were and she said she would tell the kitchen. We paid our bill and high tailed it out of there, never to return.
I just stopped by here today. Apparently, Smokey's just came under new ownership this week and the new owner has made some nice changes to the seating. While I was there I met the new owner and he seemed like a nice guy that was interested in the customers. He told me they also hired completely new kitchen staff and have a new menu - which looked pretty good. I had the The Hoss Burger, it was good and I didn’t think it was overpriced. Most importantly – the beer was cold!
Good food
