I am a local who enjoys having the Doubletree in town. It is a landmark here that in my opinion was a good restaurant at one time but is not now. It has degraded within the last year or so and the quality and value are not there anymore. It is convenient to us locals and Hwy 85 travelers and I WANT to support it. Unfortunately, I now find I grudgingly go only by necessity. I am traveler nationwide and often frequent "mom and pop" diners and have found some very good and very poor roadside eateries. I truely wish this owner could "step up" and bring the integrity of the original Doubletree back and give substance to this Platteville location.
Have been eating there for YEARS, saw 3 different owners: Shirley, Rick and I am not acquainted with the present owner. Quality of food hasn't changed a bit. Excellent is an INSULT. Their Bi weekly Buffet is off the chain. Used to stop thee on the trains every time they put us "away" in Platte siding. Great B'fast, Lunch & Dinner. TEN stars! Who ever said "meth heads" work there are really ignorant and stupid and BRAIN DEAD. "Best place on the "Strip" according to this writer and many old railroaders
I have been eating at the Double Tree Restaurant for over ten years until they were shut down. Their food was excellent but has gone downhill in the recent years. The Weld county health department actually shut this place down because of repeat numerous health violations (Greeley Tribune Article Dec. 10, 2012). Their staff have included sketchy criminals, crooks, and crack users. The comment about the meth heads is dead-on I'm sure. The owners may be legitimate, but the hired help is questionable.
Have eaten at the double tree on numerous occasions. Have always had great food, huge portions, and friendly service. I don't know why someone said that only meth heads work there, a lot of the waitresses look to be high school girls. Great place.
