The building has a rustic look but looked well kept and the kitchen and dining area looked clean too. The staff was friendly and provided excellent service. We had the "Catfish Friday" special with collard greens and it was delicious. The beer selection was basic but adequate. The atmosphere has a football style and the owner is none other than Vance Johnson of Denver Broncos fame.
I discovered this restaurant while looking for a place to eat breakfast. The sign said they were open, I decided I had to check the place out. What a wonderful surprise! I happened to be the first customer of the day, and the food was absolutely delightful! She provided some great conversation, her husband came through taking care of some opening chores, and the whole place and atmosphere is outstanding. I will go back next time through the area. Check out the bacon and eggs, with hash browns, hot cakes, and coffee! Outstanding!
Friendly atmosphere, good food. We will stop again!
VJ's is the place to go if you are in that part of town. The food is great and the service even better. If you want a nice juicy steak, mouthwatering pulled pork, or melt-in-your-mouth burgers, this is the place to go. While the exterior and interior don't look like a 5 star restaurant, the food makes up for it. And if you get lucky, you'll meet the owner, former Denver Bronco wide receiver, Vance Johnson. He is incredibly nice, caring about the food and patrons, and very funny. This is a must eat destination.
Happened to be driving through Parachute, CO on my way to Grand Junction on business. Being a devout Broncos fan, I decided to stop in to VJ's Outlaw Ribs dnd get some to ribs to go. The choices were either beef or pork so I got a mixture of both. While they were being prepared, I sat at the bar and had a rip-roaring good time reminicing about 80's NFL with Vance's Dad Gino. Ribs and all sides were excellent. Some of the best bar-b-q to be found in Colorado-and coming from someone that uses 2 grills every weekend. Delicious food, fun atmosphere, locally run business. Great place to stop off the I-70 corridor.
