Living Room Cafe & Bistro

I work at the nearby Cygnet Theater, and all three times that I stopped by for coffee the manager was a real ahole to his employees. He is rude and yells at his workers. He's Indian and I think his name is VJ? For their sakes, I give this place 1 star. I hope the owners reading this post seriously consider firing VJ. Or make him scrub toilets. To tourists, please buy some coffee, but make sure to fart in VJ's direction. Good luck to anyone working there.
I really don't know what da'heck are people talking about here. I was there on 11/16/2014 and this place is not only charming by its location and looks but the staff and how they work is one of the best I have ever seen - super fast. I had a coffee break with a group of 4 people. Everything was DELICIOUS! Best coffees, lattes, pastries, the way they served them like no other coffee place in San Diego would even come close!!! This place is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me and trust me - I don't give 5 stars that easily!
I rushed in here looking for food before catching a show at Cygnet, and this place delivered. Not literally though. I mean they had food and it was alright. It's pretty crowded and a bit expensive in here, but I think that has to do with the fact that's we're in Old Town. The meal was high quality though, and definitely not rushed.
I really enjoyed my time here! They had very interesting coffees which I wasn't aware they were such a coffee pastry place till I walked inside. I was at a street festival when their Happy Hour sign for Pina Coladas drew me in! I instead ordered a alcoholic coffee. The suggestion was Mexican Mocha with Tequila. Feel like it could of been about 25% less strong and been perfect. They were busy and the staff was frazzled but, they were handling it very well! I have always been intrigued by this place and I'm glad I stopped in. The coffee flavor was great and the churros were amazing along with some sort of pistachio log we got also! Yum yum!!
I am very sorry to say that I cannot recommend this place. I have visited two or three times, and they have a lovely patio out front, right in the heart of Old Town - but the prices are ridiculous for the quality of food. My friend and I split a burger and had coffees after - and got a $25 bill! We wanted to order a side salad, but the side salad alone was $5. Sorry, but value for money is not here. Tourist trap.
