Gave them a call and asked if they could accommodate a party of 18 people and was told yes so we decided to give this place a try let me say the waiting staff was great but the food is seriously lacking to say the least. We ordered five steaks medium rare only one steak came medium the other four came half medium and half rare and completely flavorless ???? so i asked the waiter how in the world could you accomplish this if the steaks were on the grill all the way his response was i have no idea sir and took the steak and promised he would have 3 more fired up immediately per our original order. They should up in an average amount of time which we were happy with but the the steaks again were not what we ordered they were all cooked well and flavorless again and since we were pressed for time by now cause the kids wanted to go see the Christmas show i complained to the waited and told him at this point we have choice but eat what we were severed cause would like to make the 7:45 show and requested the check upon getting the check the waiter did tell me he took of 2 of the steaks for our trouble and me being in a rush i promptly paid the bill but to my surprise a $490.39 bill so i asked and come to find out that these steaks that were on the steak special menu and were suppose to be a 14oz ribeyes "some of the thinnest ribeyes i have ever seen lees than a half in thick" are $32.00 per plate ouch hell i have had better steaks at an IHOP. Well after the show i check my receipt to find out that we also paid $39.00 for 12 soft drinks?? really?? that comes to $3.25 a soft drink. My fault on that one for not taking the time to check the receipt before we left so all in all this place is over priced for a place that uses plastic glass ware and has no clue on how to cook a streak properly especially at $32.00 a plate for a ribeye i mean Cattlemens had better cuts for less money and those cuts are cooked per your request properly......so me and my family will never be back there at any point.
Love the new york strip steak! Delicious and made to order, fabulous sauce. I ordered medium rare and it was a tiny bit more rare than I'm used to and a not hot, but I wasn't specific ad to my preference, so i'm guessing it was chef specific. It was delicious either way. Great service and knowledgeable server. Everyone in our party of 6 loved our meals and experience.
Rio City Cafe is one of my go-to brunch spots in Sacramento. The brunch menu is simple and straightforward and there are only 5 or 6 options. However, the food they do make is good and their french toast is excellent. On top of that, they have bottomless mimosas (a brunch must) and views of the bridge. Service here is typically good and prices are reasonable. Be sure to sit on the patio outside. For not brunch adventures, the bar can be a fun place and they have a nice lunch and dinner menu as well.
My wife and I ate at this café for lunch recently with a group of our friends. Everyone commented on the quality of food as being good or great. The service was of high caliber as well. Our server was friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable. I ate the lunch special that day, which was a crusted ahi tuna sandwich. It could have been seared a little more, but tasted great. My wife ordered a salad, which she said was very crunchy and tasty. Due to the large size our group, we weren't able to eat out on the patio. We were hoping to enjoy the incredible view, as the restaurant sits adjacent to the river and makes for nice scenery. The place seems very popular, and based on our experience we would have to agree. The menu was quite diverse and offered a lot of quality selections. Lunch menu pricing was just a tad bit on the high side, but it is definitely worth the extra dollars for the quality.
Awesome staff, food, and views!
