The Secret Garden Restaurant
Reviews
Celebrated my mother's 80th birthday today January 18th with Brunch at this lovely spot. Chef Michel was most hospitable and gave us a 'grand tour' of the premises which included the secret GARDEN. The food was fantastic. I hadn't had such good French Cuisine since I lived in NYC. This spot is a winner for sure. The atmosphere is cozy and well appointed. We had the 'three course' brunch for our table which featured an array of fine dishes which satisfied the taste buds of all present. We couldn't stop talking about it afterwards. I'm sure we all will be back in the very near future.
We just had our wedding here this last weekend and it was better than we ever could have imagined! We first called Chef/Owner Michel up about 5 months ago after being sent a link to their Facebook page from a friend. We decided we would have dinner there and meet with Michel to tour the property. We had the venison and the salmon and were absolutely satisfied with the food. Michel wanted us to feel comfortable first before showing us around and then he sat with us and our son at dinner and spent the time getting to know us and our needs for our wedding. Once we were done, he showed us the venue and we fell in love immediately with the idea of having our wedding here. Over the next couple months, we met with Michel several times to plan out every detail. He had great suggestions and resources, and was very gracious in working with us to meet our needs. When the day of our wedding came, of course it rained cats and dogs, but the outdoor banquet area and cocktail patio are covered and heated. Michel and his staff were so accommodating and so helpful. Everything was perfect. The guests loved the food, and we will absolutely be returning every year for our anniversary. Thank you Michel and the Secret Garden for everything!
Chef/Owner, - You said your customers were your "REAL CRITICS" I think it's important to start off with the fact that I created this account just to leave this comment for your restaurant. I remember being so excited about visiting your restauarnt especially because it was a gift from my mother for my 1st anniversary and I was very excited to try this award winning Romantic restaurant (so stated on your website). First impressions were interesting - COULDN't find the front door and hated what ended up being the entrance. I felt I was being sneaked into the restaurant. I loved our waitress but that is the only thing that earned this restaurant a star. The place was empty and while I sat at my seat I felt sorry for the owner (for financially reason) and couldn't help but notice the decor was outdated and the restaurant was dirty on top of it. To sum it up the glamour of going to this ROMANTIC restaurant was destroyed. The Food: Overpriced, BLAND and took forever. The food missed on all levels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would sum up the night with the fact that our 20 dollar movie was better than our $130.00 dinner including tip (because we didn't want to punish our waitress for your food) and coupon. What I am so upset about my visit is the fact I went to this restaurant after it was on Kitchen Nightmare and it's sad to see that the Owner restored back to his old ways and didn't keep to the Standards that Checf Ramsay left. To be honest its really simple :Gordon only teaches one thing, its not a recipe, its not style (remodel), HE TEACHES STANDARDS!!!!!!!!!!!! and this place lacks them. All I have to say is if Gordon Ramsay couldn't help you who can. To potential customers GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and bring your wallet..
Did a "Secret" dinner there Valentine's Night, 2013, for my wife Sue. Superb! Food was brilliant with the Filet Mignon being top notch. Complimentary bottle of chef Michel wine also brilliant! And, of course, the ride in the Cinderella carriage, pulled by the handsome white horse, finished off a perfect evening. I fell in love with me wife all over again! Thank you, Michel, for making it so special!!
Pricey for what this restaurant offers. Slow service. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
