Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles
Reviews
The chicken here is nice and crispy and delicious! The waffles could be a little thicker and crisper. They're kind of soggy. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I like there to be a little crunch on the outside and a spongey soft inside. The mac n cheese is good. I want to try their potato salad, so I'll be going back to have some of that and I've also heard their rice with gravy is good. This place is definitely a place to splurge, don't expect to keep a diet here. It's all salt, gravy, and syrup there. It's a homey vibe and expect anything to go down. It's in a busy part of Long Beach with interesting characters. There's a bar connected to it... Last time I was there, it was 1:30am and some drunk ladies had a bit of a tiff outside. There's security so I don't expect anything too crazy to go down there, but then again it was late and they ordered drinks with their meal. Parking is across the street. If you have a large party, they won't seat you until your whole party is there, just FYI.
Without a doubt, I can call this historical establishment as one of the few places I can recall in where I have had one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Everytime I've ever been or ordered food here, I have always ordered the full set of waffles accompanied by the half chicken. And dont forget to ask foe the syrup; it's what makes this place so special.
Oh wow smh CHIX, GREENS, BEANS AND RICE 0.0 OOWWWEEEEE Roscoes LBC killed it!!!!
This is probably my favorite Roscoe's location that I've been to. Usually you can go on a weekend (day) and only have to wait a short 10mins or so for a big party. They have a fairly large waiting area with a few seats, but also is akin to a full bar in the same building so you can get your drink on while you wait for your gluten! I ALWAYS order the #1 Scoe Special that has 2 waffles and 2 pieces of chicken. I put hot sauce on the chicken and syrup/butter on my waffles...because doing it any other way would be stupid. I also order a side of grits (add sugar and butter) and smothered potatoes. OMG! This is my last dinner request for sure. I'm not going on death row anytime soon, but I feel good in knowing that if I do, I'll know what I wanna eat. You also got to get the Sunrise (orange juice and lemonade)! The servers/waitresses are always nice + they have plenty of parking across the street in a lot and also street parking.
My go to spot for chicken and waffles. I absolutely love the atmosphere of this Roscoes! Chicken is delicious and never dry. Service is always good. Wait times can sometimes reach 2 hours on busy weekend nights which can also make parking difficult. Otherwise parking is usually good, you can park in the lots across the street. The don't allow splitting checks but they've done it if I do the math beforehand and ask nicely. Overall a positive experience here.
